Junior Football at the Saratoga Hawks provides a clear and supportive pathway from Auskick through to competitive youth football, catering for boys and girls from approximately 8 years through to Under 17s. As players progress through the age groups, the focus evolves from learning the fundamentals to developing advanced skills, game awareness, and a strong understanding of team structures and strategy.
For our U13s to U17s, football becomes more competitive while remaining grounded in the club’s core values of respect, sportsmanship, and enjoyment of the game. Training sessions are structured to build technical skills such as kicking, marking, tackling, and decision-making, alongside fitness, resilience, and leadership. Coaches work closely with players to encourage accountability, teamwork, and confidence under pressure.
Matches are played in local competitions under AFL junior and youth rules, offering players the opportunity to challenge themselves in a competitive environment while learning how to win and lose with integrity. Emphasis is placed on fair play, respect for umpires and opponents, and representing the Saratoga Hawks with pride on and off the field.
Junior and youth football at the Hawks is about more than results. It’s about developing capable, confident young people who understand the value of commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship — skills that extend well beyond the boundary line and into everyday life.
