Umpiring is an exciting role that goes beyond officiating matches — it builds confidence, decision-making skills and community involvement. At the Saratoga Hawks, players aged 13+ and adults are encouraged to step into umpiring, whether as boundary, goal or field umpires. You’ll help keep matches fair, fun and safe while gaining valuable leadership and teamwork experience.
The AFL actively supports umpires of all ages and genders, providing pathways from local community footy through to elite competitions, plus mentoring and training opportunities to develop your skills. Umpiring also connects you with other passionate volunteers and offers a unique perspective on the game you love.
Whether you’re a former player, a footy enthusiast or simply someone who enjoys being part of the match-day action, umpiring with the Hawks is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to grassroots football.
