Well Done Sarahawks U9 Gold

About a month ago we played the Bateau Bay Blues in a very one sided contest. Back then I was really proud of the boys getting in and having a go against a side that seemed to be kicking goals at will against our kids.

However that was then and this is now. I think the Blues got a bit of a surprise at the progress we have made as a team in the past few weeks after the 1st few minutes of the game today.

The Sarahawks Gold are now confidently running into space, playing hard at the contested ball on the ground and we seemed to have come up even if not slightly ahead in contested marks this week. We still have a lot of improvement to make, but I'm really proud of how they are progressing.

Liam is getting into the roving grove now fighting much harder now against much larger player and JJ’s tackling, attacking of the ball and marking was excellent, but his dribbling was an absolute highlight, milking several free kicks from his efforts. Spencer was creating space and confusing the opposition by offering leads running from the back line into space on the wing and towards the half forward flank and Deano demonstrated some brilliance today taking a number of marks and running hard. I think he is not far off everything just clicking.

I saw numerous leads into space and a huge goal from Arian and Ben you are cementing your role as the workhorse of Sarahawks u9 Gold, yet again winning contested ball and running it through the centres.

The coach’s award this week goes to Macka. He tackled, handballed kicked and most importantly won contested marks consistently throughout the day, especially in the back line. Even the coach of the Blues was impressed - nice work buddy:).

We will assess Sara Oval's playability and come back to everyone on Tuesday/Wed on the likelihood of training this week.

After a quick survey of the parents I agreed we will run training the following week for those under 9’s that wish to join us. That’s the 2nd of July for those of you around.

Note: Next game is on the 12th July.
