A New Committee for the Mighty SaraHawks in 2019
We are really excited that we have secured an incredibly talented and diverse committee for 2019. They represent all teams, all genders and everyone has a unique skills they bring to their roles at the club. Not only are all roles filled, but the coaching staff are almost fully separated from the committee team now, ensuring our little club shares the opportunities volunteering brings to more parents wanting to be involved. The new Committee Structure is lead by Stephen Burke and Lauren Rolfe and is as follows:

A Mothers Day Bonanza at Saratoga
Congratulations to all the parents and players of the
Saratoga Hawks for one of the best Mother’s Day home games we have had. Big thanks to the mums who choose Sara Oval as the starting
point of their mother’s day celebrations. From what I saw of the Auskick under
9s and 11s the kids did not disappoint. We had a donation from local artist Nicki Ruiz to add art to our fruit and vegie raffle. It was a cracking day of footy with not one, but two teams from Bateau bay turning up for Dave’s SaraHawks Auskick spectacular. After a special presentation of footy jumpers to the Auskickers by past player and head of the central coast Umpires on the AFL, Jake Bateman, the kids had a ball with drills spills and thrills. Big thanks to Dave Ryan and his trusty side kick Dave you are doing an awesome job. Under 9s played an awesome game of footy in the 1st quarter, hunting in a pack, moving the ball via handball and finishing of in spectacular form. This was followed with three more great quarters as the Bateau Bay Blues stepped up a gear and our kids responded really well. Well done Liam who received the coaches award for threading handball after handball to kids on the run. Under 11s are improving out of site each week. When they focus they are capable of so much. The team seems to get better each quarter and although the scoreboard did not show it they are getting very competitive at the contest. Special mention to Jonah, U11 player of the day because of his commitment to the ball and was super focused at the contest. Well done all. To close out Mother’s Day, the parent’s v kid’s game was a cracker. I saw big clashes with the adults (hope Ben & Jarrad recovered OK), great running and hand-balling by the kids. Plenty of mums had a go, with Julie taking a huge mark right in front of goal to push the parents in front. Will’s lead and mark into a small gap soon turned the game back in the kids favour. But my pick was Aidan, Sarahawks Auskicker and easily best on ground! Finally, congrats to Jonah's mum as the winner of the Lucky Ball prize of a $30 gift voucher from our great sponsors at "The Davo". Once again Happy Mother’s Day from SaraHawks. |
Sarahawks Under 9 Season Opener v Terrigal
What a great start to the season. In training we talked about communication, in particular loud calls whilst hand balling. Getting high tech we even used a video to demonstrate how tackle. With memories of the strength of Terrigal in 2015, some of the kids were feeling 1st game jitters. Rod kept them focused with instilling the " have a little faith" mantra. The reaction by the team was fantastic. Everyone stepped up and made it an awesome game. Every-time they had the ball Sarahawks called for the for the ball and hand balled extremely well. Special mention to Archie, who at one point had 3 to 4 people trying to pin him down but he just walked over them like walk in the park. The player of the week was Macka. Macka’s focus attacking the ball and not stopping for 4 quarters was exciting. Four of the boys played up as well. Big thanks to Lochlan, Ben , Macca and JJ. This is what the club spirit is all about. Well done boys. Great start to 2016, now we need to step up the training tempo. Rod was impressed! |
