Sarahawks Under 9 Gold v North Lakes

The hardest task I had to undertake today was selecting the coaches award. It was obvious that kicking for glory was replaced with team work at the Sarahawks Gold Game. A great example was Arian tapping the ball onto Liam who hand balled to Ben to set up a great goal. Riley was drawing in defenders before offloading handballs to team mates in the clear. Connor played his best game to date and Deano attacked the ball. Macka was kicking to team mates in space and we kept the ball moving around quickly.

The player of the week went to JJ who attacked the loose ball, used both handballs and kicking really well and could spin into defence instantly to run down, tackle and shut down North Lakes. Well done JJ!

It was great to see the kids really thinking about where they need to pass the ball, using the handball wisely and kicking when that is the best option.

Thanks to North Lakes on a great contest and to the umpires for guiding, encouraging the under 9’s and for the free flowing game.

Big thanks to Sarahawks Parents and supporters for cheering, helping with BBQ’s, Goal umpiring and the Canteen.

Training this week will focus more on set plays. And running onto the handball at pace.
