Sarahawks Under 11's v Wyong Lakes

Like the U9's, our U11's also had a terrific start to their 2015 season.

They won the very first ruck of the game, promoted the ball downfield through excellent handballing & teamwork, then scored a minor to complete that play. The teamwork continued throughout, as our Hawks dominated the opening 2 quarters to lead by 42 points at the main break.

The scoring slowed in the 2nd half of the game, but we finished comfortable winners by a 40 point margin over Wyong Lakes, 7-7-49 to 1-3-9.

Everyone showed good sportsmanship, happily obliging to spend a quarter playing for the opposition, who were short on numbers. Major contributors to the scoreboard were Ben & Aidan F, with 3 majors each, with Aaron & Alec also competing hard & leading the way for the younger players.

It was very pleasing to see newcomers to afl like Aidan M-W & Luke enjoying playing a new code.

Also the likes of Isaac & Logan having their first U11's game after being in U9's last year, show great promise and will continue to improve as the season progresses. Having said that, every player on field made a valuable contribution in the team's opening performance.

Coach Leigh will have earmarked areas to work on, like communication, shepherding & finding a teammate to target before kicking, but am sure he would be pleased with the team's first up success.
